Watching The Sky - The Bangles Box Set
Three Studio albums from The Bangles who hit big in âManic Mondayâ in 1985.
Formed in LA by Susanna Hoffs and sisters Vicki Peterson and Debbi Peterson, The Bangles began as part of the Paisley Underground scene, a movement heavily influenced by 1960s rock and psychedelic music. Their early work blended jangly guitar melodies with powerpop sensibilities.
Known for a succession of hit singles during the 1980s including âWalk Like an Egyptianâ, âManic Mondayâ, âHazy Shade of Winterâ and the ballad âEternal Flameâ which became a huge hit, topping the charts in several countries and is one of their signature songs.
The original lineup included Hoffs (Guitar and Vocals), Vicki Peterson (Guitar and Vocals),
Debbi Peterson (Drums and Vocals), and Annette Zilinskas (Bass). After Zilinskas left in 1983, Michael Steele, formerly of the Runaways, joined as bassist and vocalist, cementing the classic lineup.
Their 1984 debut album, âAll Over the Placeâ, received critical acclaim which set the stage for their commercial breakthrough with the 1986 album âDifferent Lightâ. The success of âDifferent Lightâ established the Bangles as one of the top female-fronted acts of the 1980s.
Their final album was âEverythingâ (1988). Following the enormous success of 'Eternal Flameâ, the band struggled with internal tensions and disbanded in 1989.
âą Celebrating the legacy of The Bangles, the box set contains the studio albums alongside the bandsâ earliest recordings and a selection of B-Sides, mixes and live recordings.
âą With a booklet featuring a history of the band written by John Earls from Classic Pop.
