This album was make-or-break for Machine Head. After being dumped from their long-time record label, the band were out to prove that they made a huge mistake. When “Through The Ashes Of Empires” was released, it was clear that this wasn’t the same band that released “Supercharger”… they now meant business.
“Though The Ashes Of Empires” is a masterpiece. The thrashy and brutal riffs that made the band a household name in the 90’s were back and in abundance. The album’s epic big number “Imperium” is just that – epic and big! It’s an angry anthem that has proved to be a favourite among Machine Head fans. Its mixture of aggression and emotion make it perfect.
“Descend The Shades Of Night” and “Day Turn Blue To Grey” are the other standout tracks on this record and showcase the bands impressive talent.
