Brian May + Friends: Star Fleet Project is the third release in the âBrian May Gold Seriesâ, originally released in 1983. Accompanied by top rock luminaries Edward Van Halen (guitar), Alan Gratzer (drums), Phil Chen (bass) and Fred Mandel (keyboards), the output of their legendary recording sessions was captured on a 3-track mini album.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Star Fleet Project has been given the full reissue treatment. Brian and his studio team (Queen sound engineers Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson) have created a completely new 2023 mix of the sessions from the original multitrack master tapes, and the artwork has been completely digitally recreated from the original 1983 source material, to give fans the very best experience at the highest possible quality.
Star Fleet Project + Beyond features the single version of the title track alongside full-length album versions of âLet Me Outâ and âBlues Breakerâ. Included is an interview with Cynthia Fox and a Rockline interview with Bob Coburn. A live version of âLet Me Outâ from the Palace Theatre in LA along with âWe Will Rock Youâ and a reworking of the same songâs adored fast rendition. Finally, the CD closes with the full LP version of âStar Fleetâ.
