Four Classic Albums
AVID Jazz continues with its Four Classic Album series with a re-mastered 2CD release from
Ronnie Scott, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details.
âRonnie Scott Orchestra & Tony Crombie: At The Royal Festival Hallâ; âRonnie Scott & Various Artists: Jazz At The Flamingoâ; âThe Ronnie Scott Sextet: Presenting The Ronnie Scott Sextetâ and âTubby Hayes & The Jazz Couriers:
Featuring Ronnie Scottâ.
Another release from AVID in their occasional series featuring legendary British jazz stars. We were going to call it Little Britain but we heard that nameâs already been taken! Following our recent release featuring perhaps the most famous British jazz man of all, Tubby Hayes (AMSC1456) we are proud to present East Londonâs own Jazz Night Club owner and tenor sax giant Mr. Ronnie Scott. Anyone interested in British jazz will of course have heard of Ronnie Scott but itâs quite staggering to take a look at his CV and discover just how many jazz greats he has played with. The list is indeed endless.
Tubby Hayes, of course featured here with The Jazz Couriers, Johnny Dankworth, Ted Heath, Stan Tracey, Ambrose, Phil Seamen. Victor Feldman, Benny Green, Tony Crombie, John Surman, Kenny Wheeler and of course his partner in the famed Ronnieâs Jazz Club, Pete King, and many many more. And thatâs hardly mentioning the jazz players across the pond like Johnny Griffin, Eddie âLockjawâ Davis and composer, arranger Tadd Dameron. Ronnie of course was also highly influenced by the emerging be bop scene, dominated by Charlie Parker and his new breed of young guns in New York City where he got to visit while serving as a musician on the Queen Mary from 1946-50. Watch this space for more upcoming giants of British jazz!
As with all AVID releases, we hope you enjoy this classic set and check out our extensive catalogue for more great music across jazz, blues, country and many other musical genres.
