In The Mids

Celebrating 25 years of making music as Sola Rosa, Andrew Spraggon — the force behind one of Aotearoa’s most enduring and forward-thinking musical projects — returns with his eighth studio album, In the Mids.
In the Mids is a ten-track body of work featuring seven collaborations with vocalists from Aotearoa and Australia. The album marks a creative shift for Sola Rosa, reflecting a renewed joy in studio-based production and an evolving set of influences and sonic palette.
‘This album started with my usual beat-making approach, but I was feeling a bit stuck in a live-band mindset’, says Spraggon. ‘Then I saw a short video from producer Decapsaying, “just try and make a beat a day without judgment.” I gave it a go, and it was liberating — the music started flowing in unexpected directions. The result is a record that’s very much me as a producer, exploring new territory.’
