Mobile Homes: Seattle 1974 Broadcast

PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SEATTLE BROADCAST FROM THE PRETZEL LOGIC TOUR

Released in early 1974, Steely Dan’s third studio album Pretzel Logic was a diverse set, and included the group's most successful single, ‘Rikki Don't Lose That Number’ (No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100), and a note-for-note rendition of Duke Ellington’s ‘East St. Louis Toodle- Oo’. • During the previous album's tour, the band had added vocalist-percussionist Royce Jones, vocalist-keyboardist Michael McDonald, and session drummer Jeff Porcaro. Porcaro played the sole drum track on one song, ‘Night By Night’ on Pretzel Logic (Jim Gordon played drums on all the remaining tracks, reflecting Steely Dan's increasing reliance on session musicians.

1973 and 1974 were the only years in Steely Dan’s career - prior to their 1992 re-union – that they played any more than sporadic shows.
And their Pretzel Logic tour in ’74 (actually named the All-American Tour), was the only time any shows were recorded in anything like decent quality.

Luckily, during the 1974 tour - which even included a few concerts in the UK, the Dan’s only forays outside America before ‘92) many were the subject of FM Radio Broadcasts, including the previously unreleased concert included on this new CD, recorded at the
Paramount Theater in Seattle on July 1st 1974. A quite stunning performance, previously only rarely heard by any except those either attending or those listening in to this remarkable gig, played nearly 50 years ago now.
