Produced by Neil Dorfsman and Mark Knopfler, and recorded between November 1984 â March 1985 at AIR Studios, Montserrat and the Power Station NYC, Dire Straitsâ 5th studio album Brothers In Arms was originally released on 17th May 1985. It was the first album to sell over a million copies on CD and went on to become the bandâs most commercially successful album.
The album, featuring singles âSo Far Awayâ, âMoney For Nothingâ, âWalk Of Lifeâ, âBrothers In Armsâ and âYour Latest Trickâ spent 14 non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and is the 8th best-selling album in UK chart history. Its accolades include the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and the BRIT Award for Best British Album.
The 5LP deluxe versions include the full album tracks and a previously unreleased full-length live concert from the bandâs Municipal Auditorium, San Antonio tour stop in 1985. The Live In â85 Tour ran a total of 248 gigs in 117 cities, covering 23 countries, with 11 trucks carrying 52 tonnes of equipment. It was seen by over two and a half million people.
The 5LP is housed in a beautiful slip-case featuring art inspired by Markâs National Style âOâ Resonator Guitar, seen on the cover of the main album.
