It features a minimalist, home-recorded style and includes standout tracks like āMutineerā and āSeminole Bingo.ā The title track was later performed by Bob Dylan as a tribute, highlighting its lasting influence.
The album reflects Zevonās shift toward greater creative control and a more intimate sound. This is the first worldwide stand-alone release on vinyl and is mastered directly from stereo analog tapes by Bernie Grundman.
